About Us

"From small town to world recognition"

Hello my friends!  My name is Richard Boose and i am the founder/owner of Northern Exposures Photography.

Northern Exposures Photography (NOP) was first established in March 2017 in Elliot Lake, Ontario when we were asked privately to photograph the 2017 Elliot Lake's Got Talent show.  This was our first public contract as we were still in the process of launching the business at the time.   Since establishment, NOP rose into the spotlight utilizing Social Media advertising, entering international photography competitions, and landing key local and provincial contracts with media and events.   We have contracted out our work as media freelancers from Toronto to Sault Ste Marie within Ontario, and reached international audiences by winning photography competitions that landed us in Art Galleries across Europe, a mention in Digital Photography Magazine (Feb 2020) and published in a fine arts photography book in Brazil.  To date, NOP has won 22 international photography competitions.

Locally,  NOP has secured events and become a main stay photography service provider for the City of Elliot Lake capturing events such as Elliot Lake Fishing Derby,  Lumberjack Days,  Official Northshore Drag Race photographer for the city, and many other events as requested.  NOP has contracted work to Elliot Lakes Retirement Living, and become the official photographer of the Elliot Lake Wildcats (hockey team).

But that is all just the icing on the cake.

Our real talent excels in portrait photography where we consistently are raising the bar with our fantasy type post production of families, children, newborns, maternity, engagements and weddings.  We have created a unique signature editing style that has generated us very positive feedback from our clients.  This website is full of galleries, posters and banners all created by us with no assistance just to give you an idea of our passion in not just photography, but post production and graphic design as well.

BUSINESS

Northern Exposures Photography was founded in March of 2017 by Richard Boose and Rainy Lalonde.  By fall of 2018 Rainy Lalonde had to take a step back from the business for personal reasons.   Rainy intends to return one day when availability allows him.

Richard Boose has participated in 100% of every single photo shoot, event, advertisement campaign, bookings and client communication.  During the first two years of business, the company kept its prices at rock bottom for the purpose of securing client trust and production experience.  This allowed the business to build a great portfolio.  Furthermore, Richard studied photography from the PROs of the world learning various tricks, tactics and editing skills to help push the business to new heights in quality.   Using new photoshop skills, Richard managed to break barriers on a world level after testing his work against some of the top photographers of the globe.   Richard can be found testing his latest portrait work in world photographer contests such as Photocrowd, Gurushots, Canadian Geographic, and Viewbug.

Richard Boose managed to ace some of the top children and family photographers around the world in competition marking his own name repeatedly among the top widely known names.  To date, Richard has secured 13 global victories against hundreds of thousands of competing professional photographers, mostly being children and family competitions.

Richard has had photos displayed in Belgrade Art Gallery and Berlin Art Gallery, freelanced for two different newspaper publications, provided photos for local Activity guides, city website, and a photo for the mayor of Elliot Lake's new business card.  Richard also was hired to photograph the Elliot Lake Drag Races and run a media photo booth for Village Media / Elliot Lake Today.  Social media has widely shared many of Northern Exposures scenic shots including storm shots which went viral.
